The light-duty 318-Y cable is designed for use in domestic appliances, such as those often found in kitchens and offices.

Product Information

With a voltage rating of 300/500V, the 318-Y cable is suitable for use with ordinary duty portable appliances such as radios, table lamps and office equipment where the potential for mechanical stresses and mechanical damage is low.

Application: Ordinary duty PVC cable for use in domestic appliances, kitchens and offices. For use with light portable appliances such as table lamps and office equipment. Generally unsuitable for outdoor use or industrial applications.
Suitability: For use in light-duty applications such as domestic appliances found in kitchens and offices.
Standards & Voltage Rating: EN 50525-2-11, EN 60228 Flame Retardant according to IEC/EN 60332-1-2

The 318-Y range is manufactured in accordance with BS EN 50525-2-11 and European harmonised standard H05VV-F (often misspelled as HO5VVF). Outside of Europe, the H05VVF cable is often called NYMHY cable.

Common to British cable suppliers, individual cables within this range are often referred to according to their number of cores alongside the sheathing material reference (2 cores being 3182Y, 3 cores being 3183Y, 4 cores being 3184Y and 5 cores being 3185Y).
